One of my NaNo buddies hit 50k a few days ago. Now that is depressing.

0__0 HOW THE HELL? HOOOOOOOW? I’m struggling right now… like, since I’ve updated, I’m averaging about a hundred words a day. I’m trying to catch up now… but it’s like, 50/50. It’s coming sooo slowly, but it’s actually fairly good. When I get a large amount of words in one sitting, it’s usually janky. WHY CAN’T I JUST HAVE MY CAKE AND EAT IT TOO?

Oh right, cuz the cake’s a lie. <__<

Hey, every little bit counts! What matters is that you’re doing a little bit every day. It isn’t a race, or anything. ♥ A couple years ago on my second NaNo, I did 10k on the last day to win it. So it’s never too late, and anything’s possible!

I’ve been trying to at least write 1,667 a day, though. It’s like pulling teeth, but I get it done with lots of snackos. (And now I want cake…)

I feel the same way about mine. I just am NOT feeling it. There are some interesting bits, but most of it right now makes me want to puke. :/ How many years have you done this? Is it normally like this?

Yes, actually. Part of the beauty of doing 50k is that you have to learn to persevere at times like these in order to make the deadline, and that’s a very valuable skill - one that I’ve carried into my other forms of writing. Writers don’t always write when they feel like it, and mostly writers write when they’d rather be doing other things. Just a fact of life.

But that doesn’t mean I still won’t whine about it, though. ;) Eventually it gets better, I promise. ♥

I’ve been participating since 2004, but I’ve only won twice. So it goes.
